Well, I guess this is kind of a useless post, but I've been neglecting this thing. So this is to my three-or-so faithful readers who actually give a semi-damn (if there are more, they should show themselves! I like company here...)
I've got some ideas brewing for new columns already. Unfortunately, I've gotten less and less optimistic about society and human nature in general, in light of all the crap that's happened. The news usually just pisses me off...I can't watch coverage of the Couey trial without crying or cursing, I'm physically SICK of party politics, and (on a more personal note) I have to listen to my brother, who is perfectly content to stagnate in life and expects everything to be handed to him, bitch and moan because people expect him to do more than skateboard. All he does is talk about how much he hates his life while there are children starving to death across the world and people being shot and blown to pieces in the Middle East. Why is it that the people who contribute least to society are the ones who think the world revolves around them?
Sorry...the 8AM math class I'm taking this summer must be making me grouchy. I swear, attempting math before ten is not a natural human process. They should really take that into consideration...
In happier news, I bought a lot of books this week.
Fall of the House of Usher and Other Tales (Poe of course)
Death of a SalesmanA slam book
The Bell Jar (reading it for the first time, actually. Yes, Plath fans are often pigeonholed, but hell, I'm making my own call)
LysistrataFarenheit 451 (Yes! About time...)
still working on my list too. I need to go cross some off...
ps I highly recommend
CASH: The Autobiography. Even if you're not a Johnny Cash fan, or a (real) country music fan in general, the book is fabulous...
